Our last day up in the Alaska before our cruse was spent in Anchorage exploring the Chugach National Forest. This is the most northern rainforest in the United States.
We did a nice 4 mile stroll in the rainforest on a trail called Upper Wine Creek, sorry no wine but a fun little hike. You start out right behind the Alyeska Resort. A beautiful ski resort open year round. It did sprinkle on and off as we walked but under the canopy we didn’t feel the rain. Everything was green, lush, full of moss, wet and oversized.
After our hike, we had a wonderful dinner at the Seven Glaciers restaurant at the top of the mountain. The views were amazing and the food was spectacular. If you have a restaurant reservation you get the tram ride for free. It saves you $30 a person by eating at the restaurant. We enjoyed our last evening on the mainland before we headed to our cruise through the inner passage.
This is only a 45 minute trek from the Anchorage airport. The road follows the ocean all the way down. The views are wonderful and it’s a nice easy drive. Make this a stop while in Alaska.
